Gulbergen24 2012

De race is gelopen. Behalve de stortbui bij de start was het een prachtige dag en een leuke sfeer. Volgend jaar weer wat mij betreft. En tot die tijd: gelukkig hebben we de foto’s nog!

Calender 2012

A lot of events for 2012 have set dates and are opening up for subscription.
I have signed up for Les Cimes des Waimes, others will follow soon. Go to the Calender to find what my program will look like this year, and join me if you the have time.

Agenda for 2011

Check Upcoming Events to get ideas for your mountain biking agenda of this year. Obviously this is only a small selection of all tours and marathons throughout the year, so feel free to add your own choices.

Perhaps a bit early, but this gives us ample opportunity to prepare for when the weather gets better!

Blubbèr dans Angleur

This neatly sums up Reli and my adventures Sunday March 21st at de VTT du Sart Tilman in Angleur, close to Liège. It was supposed to be the first day of Spring, but it reminded me more of a bad day in Autumn. One of those days were you almost immediately regret the decision that you have taken the 55km route at the 45/55 crossing.

On a positive note: it really is nice biking in this area, lots of technical climbs and descents. Definitely worth another visit, when the conditions are little better.

Have a look at the photos to get an impression. Check out the results if you want to see how long it took us to complete 55km.

Spring is in the air!

I know, 2010 has only just started, and we have seen quite a bit of snow and ice already (and there may be more to come still), but before you know it spring has arrived! And spring time means, … yes you guessed right: mountain biking!

Well for me it does, anyway. And I also know already where I want to ride (more or less.) If you don’t, or are simply looking for ideas, please check Upcoming Events. And of course you are welcome to add your own!

Grand Raid Godefroy, 13-09-2009

DSC01080On possibly one of the last summery weekends of 2009, Reli and I participated in the Grand Raid Godefroy, a mountainbike marathon held every year in Bouillon, Belgium (near the French border.) Out of the possible distances of 40-70-90-130 and 160 km we chose to ride the 90km race. Excited to find out  what the Ardennes terrain this far south would look like, we left for Bouillon on the morning the day before the race.

Houffamarathon, Sunday August 23rd 2009.

hmm

Yesterday, 23rd of August 2009, the 6th edition of the Houffamarathon was held. Almost 2000 bikers (including myself) enjoyed a well-organized race through the beautiful countryside surrounding the village of Houffalize. The weather has been good the past week(s) so the tracks were all perfectly dry (dusty even in some places), safe a few passages through the small Ardennes rivers.

Last year, in conditions far worse than this year, I participated in the 75km race and finished in just under 6 hours. This year, after 110km Limburgs Mooiste and 2 weeks of ‘training’ in the Alps, I decided I would enter the 100km race.
